Sharing an idea with us

Idea submission terms

How we look after your idea, what we ask in return, and how we share the success if we build it together.

Our promises to you

  • A real person reads every pitch.
  • Your idea stays yours.
  • We won't publish your pitch or pass it on outside our team.
  • If we want to build on it, we'll come to you first and agree how you share in the success.

What we ask of you

  • Share the outline, not your secrets.
  • Understand that a pitch isn't a contract, for either of us.
  • Accept we may already be working on something similar.
  • Only send ideas that are yours to share.

Why we have these terms

Some of the best businesses start with someone who lives with a problem every day and says "there has to be a better way". We want to hear from those people, and we want you to feel good about sharing an idea with us. These terms set out how we'll treat your idea, what we ask in return, and how success gets shared if we build something together.

They apply when you submit an idea to Ignite AI Pty Ltd (ABN 62 675 803 700) ("Ignite AI", "we", "us") through www.ignite-ai.com.au or by email. By submitting an idea, you agree to them.

1. How we'll treat your idea

2. How shared success works

If we decide to develop a business based substantially on your idea, we'll contact you before we do, to talk about how you share in its success. Depending on the idea and how involved you want to be, that could be a revenue share, equity, an advisory role, a one-off payment or a mix. If you'd like credit for the idea, we'll make sure you get it.

Whatever we agree, we'll put it in writing so it's clear for both of us. That written agreement is what makes it binding.

3. Share the outline, not your secrets

We treat pitches with respect, but we can't sign a non-disclosure agreement before reading an idea, and a pitch isn't a confidential disclosure. So please give us the what and the why, and hold back anything you need to keep protected, such as an invention you may want to patent, trade secrets or code. If there's a fit, we can talk about the detail under a proper agreement.

4. A pitch isn't a contract

Sending an idea is the start of a conversation. It doesn't create a partnership, employment or any other legal relationship, and it doesn't commit either of us to anything. We're not obliged to develop or pay for an idea unless we've agreed that in writing, and you're never obliged to work with us.

5. We may already be working on something similar

We come up with a lot of ideas ourselves and hear from many people, so it's possible we're already exploring something like yours, or will hear something similar from someone else. When that happens, we're free to keep developing our own work and ideas that reached us independently. Where your pitch genuinely shapes what we build, section 2 applies.

6. What you confirm when you submit

7. Your information

We handle the details you send with your pitch in line with our Privacy policy.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

Not sure? Just ask

If you're unsure whether to share something, email hello@ignite-ai.com.au and we'll talk it through before you send the full pitch.
